What a gift the weekend was! It was so refreshing to be with Daniel and to have some great family time together. But it was also wonderful because we were able to see so many friends. We had a friend that just graduated from Basic Training, and his girlfriend stay with us. Then we had a friend participating in the Best Ranger Competition. It is the most intense event we have ever seen! Basically, it is the Olympics of the Army and a truly desired position. If you have not heard of it, go ahead and look it up and you will be amazed at what these men can do. We were so thankful to see our friend in a couple of events, and to see him and his partner finish yesterday at 4 in the afternoon after 60 hours of competing. Just incredible!
This week marks the 7th week of IBOLC. We are almost halfway done with this portion of Daniel's training! Today marks the start of the longest we have been away from one another since we were married: 4 nights and 5 days. We both felt a peace about the separation this morning and even yesterday evening and afternoon ("Sad feels" usually begin then). Daniel was excited about this week because he is in the role of Platoon Leader. It means that basically he is in charge of the 40 peers of his platoon, leading them, calling the shots, and being in front a lot. This is a great opportunity to learn about himself as a leader and also what this position demands. Daniel will be a Platoon Leader (PL) when we move to Ft. Lewis Washington after our time here in Georgia is completed.
Daniel and I began this blog so we could "do life together" with you, our readers. In doing life together, we must be alongside one another in prayer. So would you please pray with and for us? It is my goal to post our prayer requests for the week each Monday, so you will know what is on our hearts for that week. But we would also love to receive your prayer requests so that we can be on our knees for you. Please, please share with us! Thank you so much for being alongside of us, and for supporting us with your love and presence in our lives.
Daniel: *A quick mind in his position as PL (anticipating needs, being quick to respond to situations, etc.)
* Being a servant leader to his peers
* Wisdom in decisions
* That he and I are united, even though we are apart
For me: *Desiring God
* Being led to the cross; in essence, that my heart would be prepared to celebrate Easter this weekend
* Finding refuge in the Lord during the nights alone
* Having wisdom and understanding to be Tirzah's mother
