Happy Monday and Happy May!
The Lord is good & ever so faithful.
Though it was an incredibly hard weekend, there is joy & singing this day!
Thank you for your prayers for us over the weekend. After over 20 hours of working on his OPORD, Daniel finally finished it at 12:30 am. He was not feeling confident at all about the presentation he has to give. His heart was filled with anxiety as he left for work at 5 this morning. But God, in his great mercy has made Daniel's presentation to be on either Wednesday or Thursday! So he has more time to prepare his presentation!!
What is an OPORD you say? Let's pretend that Daniel is deployed and a situation/mission comes up. Daniel, along with the other Platoon Leaders will be called in for brief by their superior officers. At this brief they will learn all the information about what the mission is and how it needs to be conducted. Daniel must then take that information and give it to his subordinates. This is an OPORD. It includes every detail you could think of, from weather forecast and winds to the amount of ammunition each soldier will receive. This part of Daniel's job is so crucial, as you can imagine, for if he does not communicate clearly what the mission is, lives are at stake. In Real Time Army, Daniel will most likely not have days to prepare an OPORD. It could be a matter of hours before the mission begins, so practice is needed giving these OPORDS. This assignment is 10% of Daniel's IBOLC grade and will probably take over an hour to present... So glad it is turned in & all that is left is practicing.
We continually covet your prayers. Each and every day Daniel and I learn more about what it is to rely on the Lord's strength. This is so good, but also so hard as well, as you know. Like Marlene said last night: "Parenting (among all other aspects of LIFE) keeps us on our knees."
Would you please pray for us this week:
*Relying upon the Lord
*The Gospel as the focal point of our lives
*Wisdom & understanding in parenting
Praying!! And today I wish I could kiss Tirzah's cheeks- they are great!!! Love you
