One Thousand Gifts
It was a harder day for me today: a harder time for me to look past my sin, my selfishness, myself, and see the endless ways that the Lord has blessed me. But, yet, I will write from our newly fashioned Gratitude Journal* the list we compiled today. The list that was made with hard grace, gratitude, and joy. The list that was made through sin, and raw human nature, and the Fall.
32) Candle in one hand and a mug of coffee in the other during morning devotions
33) Daniel resurrecting Psalm 139 to memory
34) Fine-tip black pens
35) His voice as he whispers scripture to memory
36) Haphazard clothesline (the desire for wind blown sheets just came over me today and I had to make one!)
37) Tirzah loving the guitar
38) Resting outside, falling asleep to the sound of leaves flying through the air and landing, soft and gentle
39) Thrift store overalls!
40) Apples
41) Cheese & crackers
42) The smell of freshly picked pecans- so earthy
43) Time spent making Christmas gifts
44) After dinner pumpkin spice tea and dark chocolate
Tirzah is LOVING waving and giving the high five
Daniel is LOVING cross-fit workouts and Fawn's roasted chicken
As always, I am LOVING my best friend, my patience, and my Soldier
* Gratitude Journal: having finished Ann Voskamp's book One Thousand Gifts, we began our Gratitude Journal just yesterday. It is opened all day, resting upon the counter, just awaiting grace moments to be written within it's pages. Ann was dared to write one thousand gifts... in so doing she learned that we receive endless gifts from the Lord.
Our family has joined along, numbering each gift received from the Lord and offering our gratitude.
Would you like to join along?
