6 weeks

6 weeks of deployment complete!

Praise the Lord!

More praises to give: I received a call from our Soldier last night!  It had been over 2 weeks since I had heard from him, and what a gift to hear his voice on the other end.   He is doing well: hanging in there it seems.  His platton, 3rd platoon, is off by themselves.  They set up their own Patrol Base and have been working out of there for the last two weeks.  Only one satellite phone for all of them to use and no computers: exactly what comes to mind when you think of a deployment!  But our hero is doing it, he is doing so well and I am so proud of him.

Could you please pray over Daniel wisdom?  A large part of his job is keeping his men under control, which I think at times can be a bit stressful and overwhelming: Daniel said he didn't realize it was his birthday until several days later!  So I think he could use prayer for wisdom in how to lead them well.

And would you please pray hope over both of us?  6 weeks done is unbelievably exciting, but still so many weeks are ahead.  Sometime it is so hard to take that next step when you know how much farther you have to walk after that step.

And hope does not disappoint, so I am going to share with you pearls of hope.

Hope in the chain link from this week: one blessing each day of the week to send to our Hero.  He will soon hold 6 weeks of blessings in his hands

Tuesday:  Making homemade nutri-grain typ granola bars with homemade blueberry peach jam.

Wednesday: Sliding at the park with our daughter.  we would chase each other up the stairs and then would race down the slides.  It was perfect.

Thursday: After sharing a snack, Tirzah reached for the Family Bible and came to sit on my lap so we could read the story together.  What a blessing that she nows we read the Bible after a meal!  And what a blessing that she wanted to read it!

Friday: Walking in the morning while having a phone date with Marlene

Saturday:  We bough a little "umbrella" stroller to use in Hawaii, and she loves it!  All she wanted was for me to push her around and around the house in it.  I can do that Baby Girl!

Sunday:  Buying Tirzah a vanilla steam and having our fist sit down coffee date: Mama and daughter (albeit just for a minute, but it was special all the same)

Monday: Making our own butter!

And hope that comes from watching darkness burst forth into light and song and dances of green

These are pictures of our little wildflower patches, sown throughout the garden

The first flowers!!!

The carrots!
our onions!

Basil, tomatoes, marigolds

Potato patch!  I just buried the bottom leaves and what a weird feeling that was, to be burying the life.  But apparently that is what you do with potatoes!

Snap peas!
