It is with a devastated and sorrowful heart that I bring you into these past days.
A very dear friend of our family died suddenly on Saturday evening.
Josiah Bubna.
Faithful friend to Daniel most especially, but also to myself and to our daughter.
He helped Daniel build the changing table for my surprise Christmas gift two years ago.
He held Tirzah probably more than I did those first couple of days. He would just come over after class just to be near her. How he loved her so.
Sweet Josiah simply collapsed as he was running on Saturday evening, alongside of his fiance. They were to be married August 11th.
Please join us as we lift his fiance, his parents, his sister, the rest of his family, and his friends up to the Lord for His graceful peace to abound in their minds and hearts.

We find ourselves on a Monday. A Manna Monday. A day to recall His faithful provision. And isn't it hard to do so, sometimes, in the face of loss? But I give thanks and I recognize and I proclaim that He is good for He has freely given:
His Son that Josiah may be finally and forever HOME
Memories of sweet moments together with our dear friend
Beautiful sunsets that proclaim His faithfulness
His Word which tells: "The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; Blessed be the name of the Lord" Job 1:21
A phone call from Daniel when I most needed to process and grieve alongside my best friend
Unity in a hard decision
Continual protection, success, and favor given to Daniel and his third platoon
Word to comfort and to heal: the last week while Greg and Marlene were with us, we read through the book written by Elisabeth Elliot, The Shaping of a Christian Family. In it, Elisabeth quotes a beautiful poem that helped her through a season a immense loss. May you read it, dear friend, here, and find encouragement and hope in whatever moment you may find yourself, to simply 'do the next thing.'
Oh, sweet, precious Fawn and Daniel. We are grieving also about this loss. Josiah went to our church and had helped in our nursery for the 4 years he was at Wheaton. Love the picture of him with Tirzah. Tears, disbelief, why's, are you kidding's, despair- so many emotions. Praying for you and Daniel and for his family and fiancee.
