SONG

Here is a quick look at our garden, just for a few fun pictures to jumpstart the weekend!

So I totally haven't been helping my tomato plants along... I just now staked them up and I am embarrassed to show a picture oh how I staked them... but when I look at my neighbor's plants and how huge they are and how leafy and beautiful, I just feel so thankful that mine are hidden behind my fence!  But, this is my first year with tomatoes and they are still producing so I guess I can't complain too too much. . .

And when I want to complain about tomatoes, I just look over to this sunflower!! It is huge!!  I  was so thrilled to see how much it had grown while we were away.  Just gorgeous

And much to my delight, we had about 2 1/2 pounds of green beans when we returned home!  I didn't know if we would have any yet and I lifted up a leaf and beheld the bounty underneath.  What a delicious surprise.

AND!  Last night my neighbor and I made and canned Dilly Beans!  They are delicious!  We used some of my beans but then needed to supplement with store-bought beans as well :( just so we had enough to make two batches.  They are delicious.  With red chile peppers and garlic and a sprig or two of fresh dill.  I have 4 jars sitting on my pantry shelf, just looking almost too pretty to eat.  Taking any orders . . .

This day, this Friday, not only jumpstarts yet another much needed weekend, but it also jumpstarts a new month in this season of deployment.  We can officially say:

MONTH 5 has begun!!

Lately I have been feeling like we haven't accomplished anything at all, but 5 months?!  That is saying something!  That means we are over half way!!  My heart has been free this day and it has not been this free in a long while.

Perhaps it is because we are on the downhill now.  Or perhaps it is because my husband I skyped for the first time last night!  What a wonder it was to see his face; to see his smile and to be held in those brown eyes.  It was such a gift.  An even greater gift was how Tirzah reacted to seeing her Daddy: she TOTALLY knew who he was and was totally showing off for him!  That blessed both of our hearts so much to see her react in such love and excitement towards him.

And so, a new month of deployment beckons a new word to cling to and pray:

SONG

"He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; many will see and fear and put their trust in God."
Psalm 40:3

Will you please join us in praying this word over our Soldier and all of 3rd platoon?

Thank you for praying and may you have a beautiful weekend, dear friend.  Ours will be filled with such sweetness as we host a Chocolate party tomorrow for the officers' wives in our unit!  May your weekend be filled with sweetness itself as well.

Blessings to you.
