Treasures

I share with you tonight some treasures.

Treasures from the garden:

Our first potatoes harvested!

Harvested tomatoes... and I just finished canning 4 jars of crushed tomatoes from these!

Newly planted spinach

Newly planted kale

Yum!  Tirzah harvested these today

Newly planted beets

Treasures from books:

* I completed one goal of deployment!  I wanted to read 10 books and while we were in Canada I completed my goal!

1.  Book #5 of the Zion Covenant
2.  Book #6 of the Zion Covenant
3.  Loving the Little Years
4,5,6.  Books 1 through 3 of the Zion Chronicles
7.  The Shaping of a Christian Family
8.  Book #4 of the Zion Chronicles
9.  The Soldier's Wife
10.  The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society

* My dear friend Hillary and I are reading through a book together called Calm my Anxious Heart by Linda Dillow and I have been dwelling upon these little truth treasures:

What do you see reflected in the canvas of your life?
"Do you see the character of Christ, or do you see frantic activity?  Do you try to paint with colors of character or colors of accomplishment?  Too often in our lives, accomplishment and doing overshadow growth and becoming.  We frantically scurry around, trying to paint the picture with our activities, but our being must be settled before our doing" (pg. 48).

"Do you believe God is the Blessed Controller of your present roles?  Has He given His best to you?  Trust God that His portion for us is best" (pg. 63).

"Faithfulness is God's standard!  As His servants we are not required to be perfect or successful- simply faithful. . .  In His Sovereignty, He has said it is in this role we can best glorify Him" (pg. 67).

Jesus said in Matthew 20:28:

I came not to be served, but to serve, and to give my life as a ransom for many.

Treasures of Tirzah:

Our little girl is growing so fast!  I am so proud to say that she is using the toilet lots now!  For sure not "potty trained". . . but totally learning how to communicate and what it means to be using the bathroom and not a diaper.  It is so fun to watch her excitement and to see how proud of herself she is.  Seriously, she jumps off the toilet and starts jumping up and down and saying "yay yay yay!" (perhaps it is because that is what I am doing?!) And then she says " teat! teat!"  and runs to the cupboard to get a treat for being such a big girl.  Oh, she is so funny.

Painting the other morning

Our first time experimenting with glue . . .  was not as hectic as I had anticipated!

Styrofoam. . . who knew it would provide hours of entertainment?!

Treasures of friendship:

Alison and Lucy came over and spent the night last night!  Just a little sleepover for the ladies!  It was super fun!

Treasures of tomorrow:

Going to Colorado to visit my parents for the next two weeks!  What joy we will have to be with them and to experience autumn in Colorado.

Treasures of our marriage:

Daniel and I were able to skype last night for over an hour!  He is doing well and looking absolutely more handsome than ever! (Can I say that on here??)  Truly, he is an incredible man and I am the luckiest woman in all the world!  He has seen quite a lot of action over there; but he has seen more of the Lord's faithfulness in His provision of safety for Daniel and for all of his platoon.  With lots of close calls, it truly can only be attributed to the Lord and to your faithful prayers.  THANK YOU for your prayers: we ask humbly that you continue to pray for our family and for these men.

"The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working."
James 5:16
