So I promise a full description of our new home is soon to come... But my moments have been filled with all things decorating and all things planting as we work, joyfully, to put the house in order and to plant the remaining seeds. Life is full! And I find myself now laying and resting in the light of the sunset, 3 sweaters on and booties that reach to my knees... The monthly evening of fever and aches. Although this night seems a bit better as I have my entertainment cut out for me: Tirzah and Daniel out in the chicken coop.
So I said we have 4 chickens already. Well right now there are 14 animals in that space as we are chicken and turkey sitting for the next week or so. Well our 4 chickens are the absolute hardest to catch and my do they have us running all over in an effort to hold them. Daniel and Tirzah just left out the back door, Daniel with a hard cider in his hand and Tirzah with a honey stick. But as I watch them now, both their sweaters are off with effort and sweat! No such luck tonight. Our thought behind the madness: trying to make these chickens comfortable with us. So far, it would appear as I they want nothing to do with us! Our ridiculousness in chasing these chickens around even caused the neighbors to come over and introduce themselves and say they might need to join in sometime as it looked quite fun! (Great first appearance!!) However, despite the apparent craziness, once the chickens are in our arms, especially in Tirzahs arms, they are so calm. In fact the one we named Red, fell asleep while Tirzah held her and sang to her and tucked her in for night night.
So in terms of "tilling Tuesdays" this week, we are growing in chickens. . . And also in rhubarb!! Anyone have any favorite recipes??
