Welcome Spring!

Forgive us for not writing for so long!
It seems as if time is really flying by down here in Georgia.  Daniel is deep into his training, just about to enter his 6th out of 16 weeks of IBOLC. The training requires him to be gone most of the week.  However, we have been SO blessed in these past 2 weeks: the Lord has brought storm after storm which has allowed Daniel to come home at night!! Daniel has never been a "weather guy"... but when it determines whether he is home or in the field, he is starting to love it!
This past week Daniel was training in Land Navigation.  Imagine him in the bush, with a map and compass, pushing his way through to find several different points.  After finding the points, he races back to the Cadre to see his score.  It was a good week with the many blessings and challenges that accompanied him out in the field.  One blessing: he misplaced his whole packet with map and compass (which would mean an automatic disqualification for him), only to find this packet leaning against a tree after retracing his steps!  A challenge: during the 5 hour test on Thursday, he twisted his ankle and missed a point (he ended up finding it after retracing for several minutes).  This upcoming week they are shooting the .50 caliber machine gun, the MK-19 automatic grenade launcher, and the SAW - 240B machine gun.
Honestly, these past 2 weeks have been a "desert time" for our family.  The Lord has brought us through many transitions, and the weight of them was heavy upon our hearts.  However, God has been incredibly faithful and a breakthrough arrived on Thursday eve.  Indeed it is true that weeping may last through the night, but JOY comes in the morning.  The largest part of the breakthrough: Tirzah putting herself to sleep for both naps and night time!
I have been spending time with Anna and Meredith (a wonderful new friend!)  We have Ladies Night once a week on Wednesdays.  We celebrate our husbands' last night in the field with wine, a pot-luck dinner, and dessert.  It is a wonderful time as we encourage one another in this new life of the Military.  Together we are learning what it means to serve our Country.
