It's hard to believe, but we've been in Georgia for a month now. Daniel is in his 4th week of training, which means from here on out, he is in the field for at least 4 days each week. He leaves at 5:00 Monday morning and returns home Thursday evening. Last week he was on the Range for those 4 days, taking advantage of the shooting practice, and also getting a chance at a leadership position (being a squad leader). This week he is at the Range again and will get a chance to participate in his first livefire mission. If you can enjoy this training, Daniel is doing so. He enjoys learning about and growing into the leader he has always dreamed of being. His squad is "the best in the platoon"... so efficient and works well together. This is a great blessing of course, but also means that their squad is asked to do several other tasks because they work so well together. But, as Daniel says, it makes the time pass quickly.
It has been hard making the transition of his being away. We have been so spoiled up to this point in our marriage, being able to spend much of our time together. It is very different for us to have 4 days of not being with one another. There are indeed some very hard and lonely moments, but there are as well, some moments of pure joy. And we are beginning to see, that the separation we endure, allows for us to breathe in and live deeply in each and every moment we have together. We try not to take any moment for granted, and the time apart is really helping us to do so. For me, I now need to learn to enter into each moment during the days apart, for each of these moments is a gift from the Lord as well.
