Do you paint?

Well another week has passed by.  Tomorrow marks 4 weeks that Daniel has been away at Ranger school... if he goes straight through without any recycles that means we are almost half way there!  Praise the Lord!

This is what the next 4 days for Daniel look like in the mountains:

"These 4 days will be your graded patrols.  these graded patrols are all platoon size, consisting of 4 squads and a platoon headquarters element. (Platoon is 40 Soldiers)... the graded patrols will consist of one of four missions: rescue a down pilot, movement to contact, raid, or ambush.  Tescue a down pilot is where you will have to pull a dummy pilot up a mountain using the mountaineering skills you learned.  A movement to contact mission will usually consist of a small team.  The other two missions will either be a raid on an enemy camp or ambush on a main road.  There are a total of 10 graded positions per day with rotating Chains of Command for Platoon Sergeant and Platoon Leader."

Meredith called the other day and asked: "Do you paint?"  Funny she asked that for I had told Daniel a few months past that I would like to start painting.  My wonderful husband bought me a little starter paint kit for Mother's Day, so I was able to answer Meredith, "Yes I will paint!"  What a fun thing to do together on a Saturday afternoon while our husbands are away Soldiering.

The homemade bread is rising for a delicious ciabatta loaf, I have homemade pesto that I will spoon atop ricotta cheese for a wonderful treat, and I just returned from the Market with a bottle of Cafe Zinfandel.  I am hoping the wine will help create a masterpiece...

I treated myself the other afternoon to a beautiful bouquet of magenta colored Lilies (my favorite!), and pretended they were delivered along with the letter from Daniel.  I am thinking right now that one of these gorgeous flowers will be my model for this first painting endeavor on which we are about to embark.

Happy weekend to you, dear Friends & Family
