Paint, sweat, & a visit

Our painting afternoon was just glorious!  And, much to my surprise, I did really enjoy myself!  I thought perhaps I would just get frustrated with the way my painting would turn out and I would just throw in the hat with the whole painting thing.  But actually, for my first time, I was quite pleased!!  SO much room to improve, but you do have to take that first step at some point in your life.  So I did and it brought me into a whole new world of delight and appreciation.

Yesterday I started my wedding dress door project.  I started stripping the wood in the afternoon, and goodness was it hot!  I think I felt sweat on every part of my body... places where I didn't even know you could find sweat.  And at some point I couldn't distinguish if it was paint chips falling on my head and face or if was a new sweat drip.

But it did feel good to get outside in the Georgia heat, sweat a bit, and even get a little battle wound on my finger :)  Somehow it made me feel closer to my husband as he too endures the heat, the sweat, and the battle.

Meredith and Anna are coming over tonight for dinner to celebrate Manna Monday.  It will be our last one in a while.  Tirzah and I are going to Colorado next week, and then both Anna and Meredith will be visiting their families.  It is so healing to get together with them and break bread together.  We always say it is bittersweet, for, Manna Mondays means that our husbands are indeed away from us.  But the sweetness is found in our friendships, and the gracious gift that God gave us in one another .  I didn't even plan on having a community down here in Georgia, but HE does do more than all we can ask or even imagine.

And tomorrow... my Mama comes to visit!!

It will be such a gift to have her here and to see the relationship between Tirzah and her Mommom blossom.  We will be traveling down to Florida to visit the Great Grandparents (my Mom's parents) and will hopefully have a chance to take Tirzah to the pool and even the beach again.  I really can't wait to have her here.
