"Not to us, O Lord, but to
YOUR NAME
be the glory!"
Psalm 115:1
It was Sunday night around 10 when Daniel called from Florida to tell the most wonderful news: we are done with Ranger School! Ever since that moment, my heart has been little-girl excited and giddy to be with my husband.
Can it be true?! Has the Lord really done this for us?! I think for both Daniel and I the truth and the reality of where we find ourselves, in this moment, is surreal. Is this for real??! This Thing... Ranger School, which has been looming over our shoulders for years, which has been so talked up, so dreaded, is it really over?? I don't think I will be able to believe it for quite some time. Perhaps on Friday when I see my husband with that RANGER tab on his shoulder I might be able to believe it. Or perhaps Saturday morning when I see him first moment upon waking I might be able to believe it. It's just too good to be true!
I just got off the phone with Daniel about an hour ago and we will see one another around 5 tomorrow evening! 40 days apart and there is but 1 wake up left until we are together! TOMORROW! And so many tomorrows after tomorrow! I can't stand it!!!
Today Tirzah and I cleaned up the house, we went for a walk, and we made a big chicken pot pie for Daniel. I am wondering now what we will do tomorrow until 5 to pass the time... I think another batch of biscotti is in store and perhaps a batch of Glorious Morning Muffins. Although when I talked with him tonight he said he was quite sick from eating all day today on the ride back to Columbus. But I know without a doubt he will be ready to eat himself sick at several different points tomorrow!
Fawn, just stumbled onto your blog at a fellow army wife's suggestion. Turns out you were Whitney's neighbor, but our friend Meredith found your blog. My husband left for leader forge this am so I spent the 5am to 6am time reading the ranger school posts. I notices that your brother is mike yankowski too! Great journey and amazing story! Read that book at the beginning of college. Your posts are very helpful. We have the what to expect ranger book, but your firsthand accounts and prayers are also such great information. It's hard to know when my husband is sometimes so unsure about ranger school himself! Congrats o daniel for one time through. He must have felt so overwhelmed by the lord's strength and sovereignty at the end!
