Thoughts for Thursday

What a way to spend a morning: together with the farm animals.  We visited Lattin's Country Cider Mill and Farm and had a most simply wonderful time.  We visited with the animals, fed them, and then were fed ourselves with their fresh donuts!  Made right in their country store.  Tirzah chose a butterfly cookie, Mama chose a maple donut and we also got a little treat for Daddy too. . .

The worst part of the morning: all my frosting came off onto the parchment paper!

Tirzah was quite bummed that there was not a real horse at the farm, but we drove up the street just a bit and watched several horses from the car: just as good, I guess!

Back at home, after her nap, Tirzah was feeding the "Nay" on her shirt. . . so precious and thoughtful!

Then it was pizza night.  Pesto Pizza night.  Tirzah helped me make 2 batches of spinach pesto earlier in the afternoon, and tonight was the first night that I allowed her to actually help with the pizza.  I don't know why I hadn't thought of this earlier: it was brilliant!  She was enjoying herself to the utmost and was such a contented and diligent worker.

Baking her pizza

Tirzah's pizza!

The finished product.  I can proudly say: the basil in the pesto was picked today from our garden.  The onions, green beans, and carrots on top are all from the garden!  And I might just say, this was one of the best pizzas I have ever had.  Make your regular dough, then use pesto for the sauce.  Add lots of mozzarella and parmesan cheese and bake for around 10 minutes.  Then add on any summer vegetables, cook for another 5-8 minutes or until veggies are cooked and cheese is browned, and you have dinner for a summer's night.

And I am so sorry about this lighting, BUT, the sunflower did indeed open!  I couldn't believe it!  More to share from Marlene and her thoughts on the severed sunflower. . .  on the left is my one jar of crushed tomatoes which I canned last evening.  And on the right are the Romano beans with indian spices.  They have a delicious curry type taste but don not have your "crispy" pickle crunch, but they are still quite good.
