Mission accomplished

I signed up to do what?!

Well, It's Manna Monday, and so I thought I would recall the Lord's faithful provision with my first FRG leader mission.

She called me on Friday, the very first day of my name being out in the unit as the B Company FRG leader.  She called simply to tell me that she was moving and that her contact information would be changed.  She sounded quite stressed on the phone: turns out that she had only 3 days to move to her new house.  She was doing it all by herself, with 2 children under the age of 3.  Yikes!

So I offered to help.  Mainly with the action of moving 6 large items from one location to the other, such as her washer and dryer, her mattress and box spring, and a dresser or two.

To make a long story short, I will just recall the Lord's provision, for we truly saw it as Marlene and I were both stressed at one moment or another!

*The provision of this man, David.  He was the "lynch pin" as Marlene called him.  Due to my lack of knowledge in towing, I totally thought that we had a hitch.  Turned out. . . we didn't.  So through a whole series of events, we came to find a hitch to use and this man David, who worked at the trailer rental place, let us borrow his adapter for the lights!  What a provision of perfect timing (that a) David was the man working and b) that we made it on time before they closed their doors for the evening!)

*Provision of willing hands!  We truly could not have managed this mission without Marlene and our good friend Josh Smithers.  For we arrived at the house, and it wasn't just 6 things. . . it was a whole house load of her belongings!  Truly, it required several trips filling the trailer, the tahoe, and Josh's jeep to get most everything moved.  Whew!  Imagine tiny Marlene and I handling a bulky box spring in a narrow stairwell. . . yeah.  But, the Lord did provide and the mission was accomplished!

*Provision of the Tahoe still being in tact!!  Somehow or another, the Tahoe was put into 4 wheel drive, unbeknownst to us drivers.  So, understandably, the Tahoe started driving like it was about to have an engine breakdown (this was after I had taken Tirzah home to go to bed, and now just Josh and Marlene were helping her move).  The morning we were to return the trailer was also the morning that Marlene was flying back to VA.  We started driving and the Tahoe was above 3 RPM at only 25 miles an hour and it was sounding like a semi.  We truly thought we had blown the engine.  BUT:

*Once again David came to our aid!  We pulled into return the trailer and we gathered that the car was stuck in 4 wheel drive.  After maneuvering for several minutes, David stopped the car, put it in neutral, took it out of 4 wheel drive, and it drove like new!  Praise the Lord!  Marlene and I both started to cry with joy and relief!

We had not even arrived at the trailer rental place at 9:15 and Marlene's flight took off in 2 hours. . . with a 45 minute ride the airport before and a Tahoe that would not go above 30 miles an hour:

*Provision of our friend Alison who was willing to let us use her car!

*Amazing that when Marlene called to cancel her flight, she could not get through to US Airways, so her itinerary was left unchanged

*Incredible that we made it to the airport on time and she made it to her gate just as they were boarding!! (Although I am not quite sure if that was a provision for how hard it was to see her go!)

*Such peace and joy given in the quiet afternoon moments after her departure.

Whew!  I think we might have just about maxed out my FRG limit in that one assignment!
