Wow! It seems like forever since I posted last, even longer since I have been in a blogging rhythm! So I thank you for your patience and your faithfulness to us. You are amazing!

Well, Tilling Tuesday, a day to celebrate all the growth and new life that surrounds us on this land. We stand amazed at the garden, each and every day, at the growth, at the hues of green, at the deep, rich smells of earth and life. I love to see the snap pea plants towering above us, picking fresh snap peas to take picnicking with us, to see the carrot greens grow more and more full with each new morn, to see Tirzah walk so carefully down the rows, munching on a piece of spinach.

We have a few green tomatoes, the lettuces are in their last stages, I am afraid we were not able to eat all of them, but we gave lots away to friends and we are planning to give the rest to the goats: and my how they love that! I harvested the first beets the other morn and made beet chips in the dehydrator. The broccoli is flourishing and we have been eating some most nights and often during the day! So fresh and delicious. I am afraid we planted far too many carrots, a time of thinning is in store for me soon, but we have harvested a few baby carrots and I even roasted some for dinner tonight (to take to the pool with us!) the first squash flower bloomed this morn, we have harvested several blueberries, and both the beans and potatoes are producing beautiful purple and white flowers! The garden is full of life to be sure!

Speaking of life and new life, we have something to share... The reason I have not been blogging, or weeding, or mowing, or cooking, or doing much of anything is because I have been sleeping!! Can you guess why???! Yes! Indeed! We have new life growing inside my very tummy! Baby #2 is in its way! We are just 10 weeks today!

I am finally feeling better, after about 3 weeks if complete exhaustion and nausea. Daniel had leave during those weeks of feeling low, which was such a blessing (for me at least!) so that I could rest. And then we had Greg and Marlene out to visit, which enabled me to rest even more! Truly, I would wake at 9 and then barely lift a finger, only to go back down, sometimes before Tirzah, to take a 3 hour nap! Needless to say I am so thankful to be feeling better and even more grateful for my family and for my husband who takes care of me even in the low times.

So we are thrilled and so excited! That puts the baby born just after Tirzah turns 3. She is excited as well and can often be found talking to my tummy, saying: "I'm your big sister!" And if you ask her if it is a boy or girl?... Changes every day! We will have to wait until February to find out!

  1. I KNEW IT! I really did! Congratulations to the whole family.

We are glad you are back to blogging, Fawn. I was beginning to think I was going to have to put in an emergent call to see what was going on with the Shear Family 3. I do look forward to hearing/seeing your new adventures, and so does Chris. We are both intrigued by your latest venture....so courageous to just go for your dreams! Love it!

  2. Dear Ones, So happy! So happy! We love you and will pray for this little one and for you as God prepares your family for this little gift. I love reading about your adventures, especially about the goats, pigs, and Tirzah, but not in that order!! Your pictures are delightful. Tell Daniel that Thomas' wedding was very precious and I thought of you and your marriage many times that week. God is very good.
