1 week down

And so, the first week of deployment has passed!

Praise the Lord!

I think I might have mentioned this before, but a new routine that young Tirzah and I have is marking down one gift each day upon a paper link.  We have 40 links which compile a paper chain.  40 links to symbolize 40 weeks of deployment.  Each link is marked with the days Tuesday through Monday and after each day, we write one gift from that day.

The gifts are written as we sit together at the dinner table.  I ask our daughter her favorite part of the day and sometimes she even scribbles down her thoughts.  Then I share mine with her.  My favorite moments from the past week:

Week 1
Tuesday: Starbucks treat with Alison and Lucy
Wednesday: How well she did in the on the way to and from the farm
Thursday: Tirzah and her love of chickens!
Friday: That she slept through the night (I am so thankful that this is the norm for her.  However, while we were in Canada we both came down with a cold. The first night she woke up crying and unfortunately woke the house-mate.  The next night, I prayed believing that she would not wake until 7 am.  7 am on the dot was when the little Lady awoke.  Amazing, is it not?)
Saturday: Danae was not too sick
Sunday: An email from Daniel!
Monday: A phone call from my Beloved!

The last one is true!  I received a call from my husband last night!  All is well: his spirits are high and his platoon is working well together.  He and his Platoon Sergeant are inseparable and are enjoying working alongside one another.  He explained both highs and lows in his leadership and also shared his excitement to push out and get the job done.

Thank you for your faithful prayers over our family in this first week!  One down.

Our praises resound!
