Just a quick little note to you...

I am sitting at our kitchen island, perched on the stool, crunching freshly harvested carrots from the garden, dipped in hummus. I seriously can not get enough of this! A total healthy pregnancy craving that is (thankfully) easily satisfied. And I was just daydreaming and wishing we had planted cucumbers. Never before in my life have I been a huge cucumber fan, and so we didn't think we would need then this year. But for some odd reason they sound amazing right now.

I am taking a little break from cleaning, Michael and Danae are in their way down for a two night visit. And while we are so excited to see them, we are a bit saddened as well for this visit means they are journeying to their new home in South Bend, IN where Danae will begin her PhD program at Notre Dame. A mix of emotions for all of us, most especially them. We are also cleaning because Daniel is due home tomorrow! After three weeks away we are so ready and thrilled to welcome him home. We can't wait for him to see the new growth that has happened all around this place!

I am serving the stacked veggie quesadillas tonight with wilted kale and avocados in the side. Tomorrow for his first night back, I have planned to have fresh pesto pasta, with our favorite homemade spinach pesto. And I think a berry picking will most assuredly be in the to do list as the first of the blackberries have ripened and sit luxuriously in the vibe, ready to be picked. Michael and Danae will probably desire some for their road trip, and one of Daniels favorite PNW pastimes is berry picking, so I know you will find us out and about the next few days, Tirzah, I think, will be in tow in her bike. Such a big girl riding at 2!!

And one last random side note that is troubling me: I think the chickens must have a new laying place that is a mystery to me. For, normally we get 2 to 3 eggs a day. But we have only gotten 2 eggs in the past 3 days and I can't quite seem to find those other eggs. Egg hunt anyone??
